COMMUNITY INCLUSION AWARD
The New American Inclusion Award recognizes the positive impact nonprofits are making on their communities and neighborhoods. The Award highlights the enormously important roles played by MD/VA/DC’s nonprofit organizations in improving our lives and promoting diversity and inclusion.
The Awards competition is open to any 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the MD/VA/DC Area. Applications are welcome from small as well as large organizations, relatively new or well-established organizations, and any type of nonprofit, regardless of its mission, religious affiliation, and ethnicity or, socio-economic community. Start-up nonprofits are also eligible.
Once an organization has received an award, that organization will become ineligible to participate in the competition for the following two years (e.g., 2015 award-winners cannot participate again until the 2018 Awards competition).
Organizations being nominated for this award will have consistently demonstrated qualities of diversity, and service to their community in a variety of volunteer activities in one year. The charitable activities / events or service listed on the application must go above and beyond the organization’s approach.

The extent to which their service or action might be considered above and beyond the call of duty – 20%
The extent to which their action would be recognized and valued by their peers/ community leaders- 20%
The two-step application process includes an application and interview. In reviewing applications, the Selection Committee will take into account the management resources available to each in terms of funding, staff and volunteers.
Winners will be selected by an expert Awards Selection Committee after a three-stage judging process, including two stages of written applications and an in-person presentation.
The program’s expert Selection Committee is responsible for making the decision.
Once collected the Committee members will review and score the applicants.
